VOTER VERIFIED PAPER BALLOTS
The voter prints out his or her race selections
for approval. The voter has two choices - to accept the race selections or
reject them and make changes.
When the voter accepts the race selections as
printed, the voting machine then adds the header to the ballot. This
header identifies details of the ballot such as the election , date, ballot used
and voting machine. The header also includes a validation number which
ties the paper ballot to the corresponding electronic record of the ballot. This
number is not tied in any way to the voter's identity. A machine readable
code is also printed on the ballot for fast and efficient audits.

If the voter chooses to not accept the printed
ballot, a ballot not accepted header is printed. This document is not a
legal ballot. The voter can make changes to their race selections and
reprint the ballot.
